Permalyn Sealer

This is the deal.  I want to get this stock done, another on the way. I have applied my usual 3 coats of Permalyn Sealer now what? My can of the Permalyn Finish had hardened and I tossed it. I know marbles, can upside down, plastic bags and a prayer, you can only keep the stuff so long. My question is... I was thinking of using the sealer as the finish and maybe giving the stock an extra coat of wax. Anybody have experience in this? I could buy some of the finish but  I'm so slow at building these guns that can will get hard. The sealer by itself does not impart the shine that the finish does, thats a plus. I could even rub it down with a tad of BLO.  Anybody care to give an opinion?    thanks JZ

I think that the permalyn sealer is just thinned down finish. I think that a few coats would work.

I usually use just the sealer for the whole prosess. Sealer is better for the last coat any way.
You can make it glossy or satin depending how you put the last coat on.

Buy a new can. You probably have at least $500-$600 tied up in parts. Don't scrimp and try to save $10 and ruin the finish.

Thanks for the replies. I really was'nt  trying to be cheap. I just needed some encouragement to use the sealer as the final finish. I'll apply a few more coats of sealer and then a coat of wax.   JZ

Use the sealer; it's the same as the finish, only thinner too help penetration.
