New to me “lock won’t fire in the gun” issue-resolved
« on: August 26, 2021, 05:23:17 PM »
There are plenty of reasons a lock will work fine outside the gun but won’t fire in the gun. Usually the sear is impeded in some way or something is rubbing somewhere. I thought I’d seen them all but my latest build had me stumped. It’s a trade gun with 3 lock bolts. Hmmm. It would fire without the rear lock bolt in place. Whaaat? Turns out the back of the simple trigger blade was impeded in upward travel as it contacted the rear lock bolt in the tail of the lock. New one to me!

That’s a bit of a chuckle. The number of trade guns I’ve put together, I guess I’m a bit lucky I’ve never ran across that one. I guess the locks I’ve used had a long enough tail to avoid that. I never even gave it a thought. BJH
