David Dodds Reading gun on the Blog

I really like this gun by Dodds but have a question for the more learned. What makes this a Reading gun? The carving look Shroyeresque to me.

I agree that it looks more like a Woodbury School than a Reading.  Doesn't seem chunky enough.  I really like it, more so than the normal Reading.

It's not a Reading. It's Davids' interpretation of an early VA. Bet the ranch on it. A PA cartel rifle. No one does a better Reading than Dodds.

I talked with David Dodds yesterday.  He said he made two rifles for the same fellow, this one and a Reading rifle.  Both were later sold on Track of the Wolf.  Whoever sent photos of this rifle in got the two descriptions mixed up and send the description for the Reading rifle in with these photos which definitely are not of the Reading rifle.  Bill is right, David does a fantastic job of recreating Reading rifles when he does one.

 Very few guys seem to have a handle on the Reading guns like Dave Dodds or Chris Laubach at least that I've seen. I'm sure there are  more . This rifle is Great gun no matter what it is. Dave's guns always have a very warm and honest feel about them. They look great but until you handle them I don't think you realize how Great they are. Love his work!
