Bolts can be purchased at 1/4 bolt, 1/2 bolt, and 3/4 bolt lengths. Not yard as I wrote above.

This is fantastic information, I so much prefer to purchase from older, smaller, family-held companies than to deal with the apparent convenience but distinct limitations of the multi-national corporate stores. Thanks!

Todays 2 shot target.

This is looking up. After seeing your first target in this thread and the patches, I thought the patches were a bit loose, judging by the black stripes
radiating outward on the patches, to their edges.  Either the patch too thin for this bore, OR - ball too small.
The switch to the larger ball, I think, is a good move, keeping with the thin patch.  This should also load quite easily with a .620 hard ball & either the .015" or .010" linen.
I would make certain the patches were saturated with whatever lube I chose to use.
All of my paper ctgs. had 2 wraps of paper, so 4X paper thickness.(2 on each side).

I may have to try some of TOTW's .626" round balls and the .010 linen.

I don't mind a tight first shot, cause the second will be a paper cartridge.

I think you are on the correct thought path.
When the first shot and paper ctg., shoot into the same group, it's about perfect.
I found with my .69, that the first shot loaded with cloth patch with the hunting load and lube, goes into the
same group as the rest, whether they are patched in cloth or "dry" paper.
As well, I should add, with the snug paper ctgs. I used, they never smoldered or caught fire.
