AZWINS ARIZONA WESTERN SHOOT
« on: February 01, 2026, 02:40:01 AM »
The 2026 AZWINS Western Independent National Shoot is coming to an end tomorrow. It is held at the Ben Avery gun range in north Phoenix. Several of us from the N.M.L.R.A. were there to help with the "sanctioned" Territorial portion of the shoot. The members of AZWINS went out of their way to make us feel welcome. If you have never been to Ben Avery and you find yourself in Phoenix by all means stop in. There is nothing like it in the entire United States. I will be writing a feature article in Muzzle Blasts on the entire event. If you can't get to Friendship for one of our "Nationals" and you can get to Arizona put this shoot on your list of must do's.

I didn't know anything about this one. Being in Utah it would be much easier to attend than Friendship. I may have went this weekend if I'd known about it. Thanks you for sharing!

I assume that if I join the NMLRA I would have access to calendars of all events, right? I need to join

I finished up my shooting at AZWINS this afternoon. I had the pleasure of meeting Muskrat Mike as well as other fine gents from California, Oregon Oklahoma, Indiana and Alaska. Plus three other fine fellows from the Netherlands.
The weather was mostly pleasant. Although it was downright windy on Thursday and Friday morning. The temperatures ranged from the low 50s in the mornings and mid seventies in the afternoon. It was 83 when I left today at 2 pm.
I wasn't able to get there on Tuesday and didn't shoot my first target until Thursday. I didn't have time to shoot all the targets I wanted to.
I haven't done the math yet but I shot well over 100 balls just on the pistol aggregates.
Had a great time.
This event was advertised in Muzzle Blasts, and it had been discussed in Over the Back fence section, where I posted a flier.
Hopefully I will get a chance to meet some of you next year.
