May ALR Postal Shoot
« on: May 02, 2025, 04:43:44 AM »
Well, I sure did not think I'd be winning this month.  As JB said last month, even a blind hog can find an acorn every so often.

In continuing the turkey hunting theme, here's a related but different target.  A turkey!   If you are tired of turkey targets, you are free to call this red animal a bison if you like.    ;)   The following link should take you to the May gobbler:

https://media.mwstatic.com/pdf/downloads/target-turkey.pdf

It looks like the image below.

Offhand shot at 25 yards.  All other positions are shot at 50 yards.  Your choice.

Five shots per target and up to four targets may be submitted. To score a shot must be inside the red part of the bird.   The scoring rings are 10, 9 (grey ring), 8, 7, then any part of the red lower body is a six.  Max score of 50. Again, half-ball rule on all shots. Tie breaker will be group size.  Remember - a good cardboard target backer and heavier weight of target paper sure helps.

Hey, hey, hey.   Let's be careful out there.

Good shooting and God Bless,    Marc

Good target. This is what my printer puts out.

The thin part of the head above the ring is zero, or also a 6?

Good point Foresterdj.  I say let's call it zero.  It would be hard to get a 1/2 ball into that sliver unless the ball is very small.  Not worth messing with.  Thank you for asking.  God Bless,   Marc

Thank you Tony.  I was beginning to think my target selection had offended everyone.  Best of luck with your shooting.    Marc

Had no chance at a real turkey this spring, so went to the range to fire off my load of #5 shot, then took 5 off hand with round ball at the target of the month.

(FYI, Turkey load was 70 gr FFg a nitro card, 1.75 oz #5 and over shot card, at 25 yards.)

My off hand with the round ball not very good, luckily I have more chances. It was raining though I was under a roof. Load was 70 gr FFg, nitro card, loose .610 RB and over shot to hold it in.

The turkey was quite safe, as long as he stood still.

Nothing wrong with your choice of targets, just lots of rain!😳
