Buchele Lock
« on: August 08, 2008, 11:42:34 PM »
I recently purchased this lock online and looking at the signature, I assumed that this was a handmade lock by William Buchele. After receiving it, I realized this was not the case and it is even stamped "Italy" on the back of the lockplate. Did Buchele market his own locks with his name on it or is this just an attempt to capitalize on his name?
The script signature on the lock looks the same as some of the Buchele made locks that I have seen on rifles. It is a quality made lock and appears to be very similiar to a large Siler lock. I need a mainspring and I think the Siler spring will fit the lock without a problem.
Is anyone familiar with this lock?
Thanks
Carl

Hey carl- I had one of those before- I bought it because I believed it to be a Buchele. What I was told by someone else back then was that an Italian Lock Co. took one of Bills locks to Italy and reproduced them, signature and all. The one I  had was real nice quality- yours looks nice also. take care Steve that engraved the T-Hawk you sold on Ebay.
