Simon miller rifle?

Simon miller rifle?  This is all I have for pictures. The patch box has an upper Susquehanna bird head style finial. I’ll try to post a picture of the patch box later.  Small simple Wear plate on the fore arm With lobes on the ends of it. Half circle escutcheons. The trigger guard looks like Simon Miller work. Thoughts?

It looks more like a Baum to me but I would be curious to see if the sideplate has the upturned horns.  Miller carving tends to be a little different but never say never.

Schreck, Just my opinion, but I would think probably not by S Miller.
I've had 2 signed ones and seen several others, and to me the carving doesn't look done well enough. Also the moon inlay, though this inlay is most likely a replacement, the shape of the moon is too fat. Also, both rifles I've had have a patchbox hinge that goes all the way across the side plates, and not just the width of the PB door. Also, both lids were engraved. By the color of it, this lid might be a replacement. The toe plate also seems a bit short.
Other than that, it looks like a nice rifle for the right price!

I have to agree with John, it doesn’t look like Simon Miller’s hand to my eye. Besides John’s observation, the stock architecture doesn’t look right. Miller, to my knowledge, always signed his work…is there a signature? A picture of the lock, and side plate would be helpful.

Unfortunately The orig side plate is gone and replaced with one the covers the whole area. Barrel to rusted to see any sig

I agree with JTR, I had a signed S Miller and the stock profile was different plus other features.

All the signed S Miller rifles that I have seen had a bold, deeply engraved signatures that would take a lot of patina to obliterate.

I've seen other S. Miller rifles with the same architecture as the one I posted.  So I'm not sure that excludes it.  The barrel is
HEAVILY rusted.

My first thought when I looked at it was Abraham Angstadt. A quick progressin of his travels

1.) Rockland Township (born)
2.) Reading - learned the gunsmith trade under someone there while Adam was building clocks. Son from Adams 2nd marriage.
3.) Back to Rockland - Angstadt and Sons.
4.) The River Town - Susquehanna (where this rifle hails from - I'll check my notes when I get home and modify)
5.) Ohio
6.) Indiana

He made rifles in all these regions - I'll update towns when I have the file in front of me.

The architecture looks right, trigger guard as well, the box is has some of the Reading traits, and the carving is not as elaborate as I have seen but looks similar.

It's a possibility - he was in that area for a fair amount of time.
