First Flintlock build

After a lot of questions, reading, and thought I have decided to make my first flintlock build a Jim Kibler Colonial. I plan on ordering the kit in late December. Having no experience with flintlocks I felt this was the wisest decision. When I get the kit and begin work I will probably have plenty of newbie questions, and I hope I can ask them here?

First thing I do is draw file the barrel. Jim’s video shows him doing it after inletting.

Second that. My first was a Kibler Southern mountain rifle. I learned a lot.

I would highly recommend a copy of Flintlocks A Practical Guide for their Use and Appreciation by Eric A. Bye. It'd be a good companion for your new rifle. Have fun with the build!

I have never worked on a flintlock but recently finished a Kibler Colonial .54, and just started a Kibler SMR in .45. 

Follow the many Kibler videos on both rifles, Kibler had upgraded a few things to make assembly easier and now includes a few tools. Some modifications that he does in the videos won't be needed.
