A Powder Horn

I have just finished this great new Powder Horn. It's soon bound for Missouri
It's a bit similar to my previous one, though larger. I used several motifs from the other horn because I liked them a lot. On this one I added a small inscription (in German) below the character : "Jacobs Erste Jagd" meaning "Jacob's First Hunt".
It also reads: "Gott Und Land 1758 " (God and Land) and on the opposite side "Keep ye Keen of Eye And Powder Dry" (original quote) and has a nice border incised down the back.
I was imagining a father inscribing this image of the lad, with his gun and bag on a horn, to remember the proud event of his son's first hunting expedition, as he comes home with his game in the bag. Or maybe he made it as a gift for his son? It's fun to imagine.

Thanks - it’s enjoyable working on horns except the smell takes some getting used to! Trying to get the scratching more clean. Using a nail stuck in a stick might need an upgrade ?
