It's a whole lot easier to file draft on the inlay and inlet it properly. The OP isn't going to have any gaps when he gets it all the way down.

 Mike i did file a draft, i think i was trying to get it to tight of fit.

You'll  be fine once you have it down where it needs to be. I've  done some big starslike that and  they are a pia.
