Hollenbaugh flintlocks
« on: December 18, 2021, 12:50:24 AM »
I am looking for information regarding the nice looking Hollenbaugh flintlocks, specifically does he still make locks and if so, how do things work?  There is an up-and-running website that gives an email address; I messaged twice and got no echo.  There is phone number that I have called several times but the messages I left never got a reply.  The one time I made a connection, Stan said to send an email, so it just appears to be an endless loop.  Anyone have a different experience?

I don't know where you live but he usually has a table at the 18th Century Artisan Show in Lewisburg, PA.  That show's coming up in early February.

I have never met the man. I have one of his locks that I got from a friend who had it and it looks to be a good lock. I tried to get a lock from him for a year and a half with no results. I tried through emails and phone calls. I did get him one time on the phone and he told me he was waiting on castings. I tried calling several times after that and got nothing but his voicemail. I never got a return call. I finally gave up trying. I will never try again.

Didn't Stan have a heart problem a couple of years ago?  I had gotten two locks from him and it took him a bit longer to get them put together because iirc, he had a heart attack or something like that.

I have done business with him as he lives just 30 minutes north of me...A solid lock builder and gun maker he is, but with all the old timers he has some health issues. I know that the best time to get ahold of him is early morning. ....

I got two pistol locks from him about a year ago.  Great sparking locks, 4.125" x 0.75"

Stan has had a lot of health problems the last couple years.  Hes had at least 6 or 7 heart attacks.  Hes not building guns anymore.  Doesnt have the stamina.  Hes 82 now.  I hope to see him soon with an update for you.

If hes up to it, Ill try to drive some deer to him after Christmas.  His Ditchburn locks are pieces of art for sure.  Honestly, a bunch of us didnt think he was gonna make it this long.  He was bad.   But the last few months hes been doing better.  Ill pass the good wishes on to him.

Thanks for all the replies, guys.  It helps to know what's the norm and what isn't, and what's happening that I don't see.
