I dont think I have ever tried turning horn before.   How does it compare to wood for turning?

Can you show a picture of a tip like those shown setup in your lathe?

 I think it turns better/easier, small sharp tools make it easier. This may show you how the tips are set up and made. Any more questions just ask.
