I admit when I Mikes comments I laughed a spit my tea out onto my computer. His comments were succinct.
You could put that logo on top of the barrel at the breech.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

How ancient is the symbol (crest?) and why not use the entire thing?   Dan

Might be pretty cool if you did that design as a thumb inlet on the wrist. Include the whole crest maybe like a shield with it engraved on it as the thumb inlet. There are german rifles that have this shield /crest idea on them. But its your rifle you have to live with it so make it however you want it. IMHO if you do keep it I would move it towards the butt more. The placement where it is at now makes your cheek piece look unfinished or undefined on that side.

Put the family crest in its entirety on a wrist plate inlay.
Even a deeper metal "carving" would be historically correct and much more appealing in a rifle.
The only issue is, that the rifle should be pre-revolution in style. A 1790 american longrifle with a coat of arms does not appear correct.
Worth looking for european rifles where there was a plethora of nobility of all levels having rifles/fowlers built for them.

This is an old post from early December and the OP hasn't been on since Dec. 19.  My guess is he is probably not going to see these new replies.

IMO, I would downsize the symbol and try to incorporate it into a more traditional design.  Something like Niehart did with his snowman that is situated between 2 C scrolls.
I like the idea of downsizing it. Maybe you can incorporate onto the toe plate as an engraving. That size is just too much.... IMHO
