Pedersoli Jager flintlock conversion
« on: February 27, 2022, 05:30:03 AM »
I have the opportunity to buy a pedersoli jager target rifle in .54. It’s in percussion but my only interest is for it as a flinter. Has anyone done a conversion for this rifle and if so does anyone know of any after market lock options that require little or no fiddling to work? E.g. chambers, L&R etc.

No experience but it’s rare ant lock could drop in and work. Sear-trigger co-location has to be within about 1/16” of planned to work right. Plus the locations of the front lock bolt and, well, everything have to work. It’s not going to be trivial no matter how you approach it unless you can buy the lock in flintlock form.

Possible - trackofthewolf has full sized pictures of locks, etc, in their catalogue.
That is how I matched up the leaf-spring lock I needed to replace the coil spring lock on my wife's rifle.
Ended up with only a small amount of filing on the "new" lock plate, to fit perfectly.

I simply matched the original lock onto a picture in the catalogue & that was it. Ordered the lock and done.

I'm presently doing a conversion of a Pedersoli Kentucky rifle from percussion to flint.  The R.E. Davis late Ketland flintlock that Track of the Wolf sells ( part #Lock LK-F) is not a direct drop in replacement, but can be made to fit.  I don't know if the Pedersoli Jager uses the same lock, but the folks at Track will know.  They usually answer customer questions within 24 hours.  Also, VTI Gun Parts might have the lock you need.

A lot of the lock plates allow filing to fit if the difference isn't to much. That's where the catalogue comes in handy.

It looks like they have a different lock for that model. If it is like many of their other models, the Pedersoli flintlock  for the flintlock version should basically drop into place with little if any effort and then you just replace the drum with a vent liner.
