Got a little carried away on the front of the lock mortise. Took a scrap piece of curly maple glued back in now to reinlet a little more carefully.

It’s common to break through to the ramrod hole.

I never lay a chisel to a build unless it is sharp enough to shave my arm hair ...without a scratch on my arm!
Using a chisel like that is effortless....if all of a sudden the chisel feels different ....you need to strop it again! If for some reason you hit a metal surface ( like inletting a trigger guard and hit the trigger plate...no matter how gently ....you need to sharpen & strop it again! Saves a lot of aggravation, but adds about 1/2 hour to your work!

Is the rr hole centered with the bottom flat of the barrel channel? if it is pushed twards the lock you will have to move the channel over a bit. Looks like your using a candle for inletting . Use a magic marker its way less messy.

That's the front of the lock mortise with a patch piece of wood in the front curve. Looking from the side.
