Horn W/Two Bands
« on: March 05, 2022, 05:13:37 PM »
This one is about 13" around the outside curve & 10 1/2 tip-tp-tip. The Walnut butt is hollowed out about 1/2" its length and is 2 1/4" wide. The tip is a two part antler and held with 3 wooden pegs. The center band is held with 3 Steel pins as is the base band, those pins also hold the butt in. Color on the horn is AF, the bands have a coat of Saddle Tan leather dye on them.  All coated with brown wax.

The phrase “Great Minds” comes to mind, until I realize mine is one on them. Your horn looks very similar to one I made last year. Small (12” on the curve and 2” at the butt), base band and mid body band with metal pins, two piece antler tip also with metal pins and walnut butt. I like yours very much. Aging adds much to a horn and I’m always torn as to leave alone or age.

An absolute work of art, and it's even more beautiful in person!
