Brass Patch Box

Gentlemen,
I am preparing to construct a brass patch box.  My plan is to copy a box on a Martin Sheetz gun that I posted pictures of on here about a year ago.  The box is pierced with a push button release in the toe plate.
I am looking for all and any guidance I can find on the topic.  Peter Alexander's book addresses the topic in depth  but  is still lacking.  I have searched the ALR and found some good thoughts but looking for more.
I appreciate any and all suggestions.

Practice making the hinge first, learn how to make decent hinges on scrap brass. Some have made the hinge, then attached the door and finial onto the pre made hinge

Many of my Pboxes have different style hinges,,,,on some the hinges are integral and some have separate hinge plates. Many of  the  Pboxes are for Bucks County LRs and are side openers. The top Pbox has integral hinges while most of the others shown have separate hinge plates.....Fred

Thanks for the feed back.  The box I am replicating has the hinge formed on the finial as well as the door which is what I plan to do.  I always  expect to make practice parts especially when it requires a skill I
haven't developed.  I'm looking forward to making the hinge
