Brad Emig rifle information

What is a fair price for a Brad Emig rifle?
The is one coming up for sale at a local estate auction. I have not seen one for sale, and have no idea for a fair price.
Any help will be appreciated.

Depends.  Is it one he built from parts?  Or one he built from scratch?

Information from the estate says it was built in the late 70's or early 80's it is .62 cal. curly maple percussion.

He’s up there with the best contemporary makers. I’m not sure about that time period but he often goes farther than most in making parts, even forging barrels sometimes. There’s nothing he can’t do in the longrifle and forged accoutrements area. Still, nobody can put a value on a gun sight unseen.

It always depends on the style plus what you are comfortable spending.  No way to give a number on an auction plus no pictures complicates things.  Personally, I wouldn't bid on a cap-gun unless it went cheap.  Do they ave a viewing day?

Old Ford 2, I've bought several guns at online auctions and basically it's a crapshoot on what you get buying sight unseen. I've closely followed many that I did not bid on. Sometimes things will sell cheap but that can change depending on interest in the item. Find out the estimated price range the auction is using for your guide. If you bid just higher than the high estimate you'll own it most of the time. Keep in mind what you pay will be up to a third more than that after fees commission sales tax etc.

With the information you've listed so far it's a no bid.

If you are seriously interested, I would give Brad a call. I have never have seen a percussion rifle by Brad. Just my .02

Just my opinion but the concern about a fair price would primarily be in the mind of the buyer and secondly, the mind of the seller.  If you like it and want it then set your own limits.  Getting a "good deal" or paying too much fade with the joy of owning and shooting.

Very few are comfortable commenting on the value of work of a fellow craftsman or the value of a gun unseen, condition unknown, components unknown, style unknown, caliber unknown, in fact, everything unknown. What were you expecting based on the information you gave us?
