Hello All,
I finally called it quits on a horn that I worked at on-and-off for well over a year. It didn't come out quite as I envisioned at the start but that's okay. I considered it a challenge to up my file work game.
It's approximately 14 inches on the outside curve. The 3" plug is a piece of already distressed walnut board nabbed off a "free" pile and the stopper is pine. Everything between the rounded tip to the raised ring is seven-sided.
I rubbed the finished horn with slices off a green walnut and then, when dry, topped that with an iron-in-vinegar mix and went after it with the heat gun. Final step was a warm coat of beeswax. It will be keeping company with my flint fowler.
Enjoy,
Kevin
