hi all , looking for a plank builder who willing to send me some curly maple plane shavings. i need them to repair some poor inletting. i  will need a variety  of thick [.030-.040?] and thin pieces maybe 3 inches long. lets say $5 - $10.00 for a small envelope. thanks. mike

I'm going to piggyback here and say I'd like to make the same offer. I also have a few gaps and no plane

You guys should post pictures so that people can assess the severity of the issues and provide advice for correcting them. There are any number of ways to fix gaps and other problems where you won't be able to see them or they'll look like a period repair. Gluing in shavings will more than likely just look like you glued in some shavings, the color won't be close as each tree takes stain differently, and they may end up popping out anyways.
Frozen, Can you show us some examples of the repairs that you have made??? Perhaps how exactly that you did the repair??

Posting pictures is a good idea, may be some other solutions or ideas  from other people.

PM me your name and address and I’ll mail you a box full from my current build.  I have a small waste paper basket and a shop vac full.  I don’t know how many thin 3” pieces I have from the wood plane but I’ll throw some longer pieces from the band saw in there.

When lock plates are chamfered or angled it makes an inletting job easier.I did that to the locks I used to make.
