Ferguson rifle built question

Greetings all, I just received the barrel and hardware from The Rifle Shoppe. Its definitely an advanced build. I've built many longrifles and Hawkens. My question is with the screw breech. Its not drilled for the touch hole. Does the touch hole get drilled into the breech screw and exits at the rear of the powder chamber. So it would be an "L" shape, or does the outside of the screw breech get notched along the threads leading to the powder chamber? My parts set included plans but it doesn't specify the touchhole drilling.

The touch hole should be 1/8" forward of the breech screw vertical centerline. I might set the lock in the stock using this information before drilling the touch hole.

Hi,
Your screw breech should have a flat filed into the threads where it backs up to the powder and bullet chamber.   The vent hole is drilled from the middle of the pan to some point just in front of the back of that flat.  It can be angled forward a little if required.  No "L" shape and definitely not into the screw plug. This seems to be more an issue for those using TRS' precarved stocks.  It is not an issue if you build from a blank and realize that on the actual Ferguson ordnance rifle, the back of the pan on the lock is almost 3/4" in front of the end of the breech/barrel mortise.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I should have waited for the stock to arrive to check the alignment of the pan. I thought I saw a hole drilled through the screw breech in a photo on line, which I thought was odd. So ok that makes sense. 

Ill probably have more questions once I start building the thing. lol
