This was made by an unknown gunmaker using mostly commercial parts including the Henry Parker lock (GOOGLE "Henry Parker gun lock" to see many various guns by different makers using his locks as well as comments on Parker's New Jersey operation). These one-off transfer mechanism type guns like yours  show lots of creativity, but little commercial success. If interested, I'll e-mail you 5 or 6 more different applications of transfer mechanisms on percussion over under guns  to you. Let me know if interested at WGLOWE@TDS.NET

Years ago, I saw a gun similar to this in an old Norm Flayderman catalogue.  It had a crutch like mechanism that pivoted off of the lower drum and was caught by the inside curve of the hammer driving it down to detonate the bottom barrel. This rifle looks slightly different, but still the same sort of idea.  James Levy

There are some cool over/under combination gun styles out there in various configurations. Some have two locks, I've seen double mule ear locks, one standard lock and an under hammer mechanism, etc. I feel like most I've seen were from New York or the Great Lakes. Here is one somewhat similar to yours and also built with a Henry Parker lock:

Seth, here are some images that shows this very unique transfer system on this gun  that you folks sold ... it works, but is not very practical, especially trying to manipulate for the second shot in cold weather.  Most of the over/unders  in my collection are , as you indicate, from NY, Upstate Pa and Michigan

thank you all for the information you have given. i made a prototype toggle to see if i was on the right track with my thinking. it works. cap both nipples and the top barrel fires first. hammer back and the bottom cap is struck . now to refine the toggle. the lock is mostly in good shape with no broken springs or sear. the axel is warn and there is some slop in the hammer. thinking of doing a counter sunk insert from the inside to tighten it up.
here is a picture of the toggle i made.

and i replied to your reply! thank you so much. this is just what a man needs to keep him entertained. i wouldn't actually classify this gun as a long rifle but it is part of the history of our guns progression.
i have to put this one aside and get back to finishing a dolep fowler or i will forget where i was going with it! getting old has been a wonderful ride, being old sucks!
