Make the lid over again.  I see a saw cut on the far left knuckle!   Make it again and try for a closer fit.

Suggestion.  Don't make both parts out of the same piece.  2 separate pieces of metal.
Cut the parts Joining a tad oversize & them file them to fit each other.

Good point Keith, I've been doing it so long I took for granted that it began as two pieces!
Being 1/4 Canadian I agree with Taylor too  ;)

Scrap it and start over if you are not happy with it. The important part is that you are satisfied with it when it is done. Don't matter how many times you have to do it to get there.

The whole reason we do this is to make something we are proud of …….. you never get it made to your satisfaction the first time.     Now what did you learn from this and what will you do differently next time ?
( fwiw……I am building an early styled swamped barrel rifle , which I swore years ago I’d never do again) and I have used every trick I’ve learned since the first build in 1972 to cover the things I have “ not anticipated.”
(Taterbug…..if you are reading this…give me a call….come over …..and I will teach you how to make your mistakes look good….. maybe . )

When determining the knuckle dimensions and positions on both plates, lines are very  accurately scribed and these lines aid in filing w/o gaps. Just line up the lines and file until  zero gaps are achieved. From seeing your "fits" , you're missing by  a lot......accurate layouts will eliminate such large gaps......Fred

Just
Make the hinge tab mount leaving the tab sections slight lu over sized. But befre you do that you have got to ckean up the joint of your lid hinge tubes. Need to make them square to your hinge ( purpendicular) some use smoke to join the hinge tubes together or prushian blue. If yo ant a tight hinge you will need to use some transfer media of some sort.

If you are asking "is this ok?"  you have already seen something you find questionable and are reluctant to hear your self say " No it`s not"  On the other hand someone somewhere can find something wrong with anything that has been made if they look hard enough.   What I always try to remember is what a descriptive geometry professor told us in class once " Manufacturing and quality of surface preparation is always a compromise do you want to pay for a 220 grit finish or a 1500 grit surface finish"
Opinions are expensive. Rich people rarely if ever voice their opinion.

Shown below are some pics of the sequence I use for the BC Pboxes..a very accurate layout of the knuckles on both of the separate hinge plates is req'd. The reason for the separate hinge plates is that the knuckles don't  stand as high from the top of the lid. The lid is  made from .050 sheet stock  and the hinge plates from .040. The hardened 1/16 dia  pin stock can be purchased at the hardware store.....Fred
