Best hacksaw frame???
« on: September 13, 2022, 03:26:30 AM »
Do you guys have a suggestion for a stout, heavy duty hacksaw frame? I've gone through 3 in 2 years.

Klein tools.  I am an electrician for nearly 50 years. Not cheap, but great tools.

The high tension frames are best.  I think there are a number of manufacturers.  I have a Starrett frame, but I think there are others.  Lennox comes to mind as well.

I agree with Jim. I was never able to make accurate cuts with a hacksaw until I switched to a "high tension" frame.

I seldom use one but had one with a tubular frame that worked well.

My Starrett lasted over 5 years before one of the pins that holds the blade broke off. The frame itself is fine. I replaced it with a Lennox a couple of years ago. So far so good. The cheep frames flex too much in the frame which prevents the blade from tracking straight. I don't own a lot of power equipment, so most of my metal work is done with a hacksaw and files.

Another vote for Lenox high tension hacksaw frames. I have switched over to the Lenox bimetal blades (made in USA!) as well. Used to use Starrett blades but they seem to all be made in Brazil now and the price per blade is hard on the pocketbook.

Justin: Another vote for the Lenox hacksaw.  This hacksaw has a great blade tensioning system. Cheers, Alex

I don't have a Lennox but that style of frame is the type of frame I now use and the best I have ever tried.

I got two which I only use on small material. One has a course blade the other has a fine blade in it. I use a metal cutting bandsaw for 95% of my metal cutting needs. Use bi-metal blades whatever cutting you do.
