Oh, I am proud of it. I worked on it from Feb. 22 until Sept. 22. But there are some things I wish I had done differently. Regarding the finish, yes, I did rub back the permalyn. Also, the first coat was heavy, but the wood soaked it up quickly. I did a light rub for any remaining whiskers and added a light coat. I repeated this three times, rubbing back after each application. I gave it two days to thoroughly dry. Then, of course, I had to order the Briwax. I recommend testing on scrap wood, I didn't do this, and I should have. I applied three light coats of Briwax buffing until the buffing cloth moved without resistance. I had never done anything like this, but I approached it like I would finishing a shotgun stock which I have done several of. I learned that there are differences between the two, but basic finishing principles apply to both. Thank you for your kind words. They are appreciated very much.
