Match Winning Custom Poor Boy
« on: December 31, 2022, 06:12:34 AM »
This is an interesting rifle. A .45 Poor Boy style said to have won the 1983 Illinois State Muzzleloading Championship.  The Tiger Maple stock practically glows with gold and green  hues. No buttplate, but has steel toe plate and antler heel plate. Lock stamped 201 over KWS. Can someone identify lock maker?

Don't know the lock, but I have a TVM flintlock from a kit maybe 25 or so years ago, and it has no buttplate but a horn heel plate and steel toeplate like yours.  I had lost the original lock but had it replaced with an L and R, it matched the opening.

The lock looks like a Siler "conversion" lock. Basically just their flintlock with a percussion hammer.
