N.E. FOWLER FINISHED
« on: January 13, 2023, 08:01:53 PM »
Hi all, I just finished this 28 ga. (.54 cal.) x 36" long Fowler for my friend "Old George" so he can get the squirrel population under control around here.
I cut down a 42" Colerain barrel per request and used a Chambers Golden Age flintlock. The black walnut was cut by a farmer friend/co-worker about 8 years ago. All brass furniture. There are a couple coats of Honey Maple stain and the sealer was tinted with a black artists oil paint to darken the grain.
It weighs in at a handy 6.4 lbs.

I started working with Tom Caster a few years ago when he assembled A Chamber kit for me. That was traded for one of his Jaegers which I hunt with, in addition I have a Lehigh Schimmel in 45 cal and now this 28 ga. beauty. The pictures speak for themselves, Tom is reasonable and easy to work with.

oldtraveler... No I didn't make the furniture, but I usually rework it somewhat. The trig guard and buttplate got some engraving similar to originals. Nothing real fancy.

O' George, thanks for the endorsement  :D
