Butt Plate Screw
« on: February 14, 2023, 09:01:50 PM »
Gentlemen,
Fooling with the top butt plate screw.  Is there a standard for the diameter of the head of wood screws of a given size, i.e. #8, #10, etc.
Thanks, Bob

I try to make them proportional to the top flat.  Just whatever looks nice.

I use a size that look good for the application which would usually be a #8 or a #10 slotted oval head wood screw.

I use #10 oval head which seems to be common, but I have seen some bigger.  I think #8 could look a little small especially on a wide butt plate.
