That was the backstory ! Bahahaha. Very late 18c - early 19c no one's buying those big Hudson Valley Fowlers anymore and our man is mostly smithing and doing odd jobs now. A fellow show up on his doorstep with a rifle bbl and wants a gun made using it. Money is money and our old Dutchman is, well, a Dutchman, so he clears out his old shop, finds some unused hardware and sets to work. Our man neither knows nor cares about patchboxes, nosecaps, toeplates, cheekpieces, etc. so his customer gets what is really a fowler with a rifle bbl. in it. And goes away happy. After that, the chickens move back into the shop and our man goes out and weeds his garden, wondering why anyone would want a rifle in the first place. The end. :-)
