This is a project that was begun some seventeen plus years ago by a young builder for the owner. For whatever reason, the project stalled and has sat dormant for all this time. I suspect the reason may have been a significant misalignment of a novel setup that had the single trigger and trigger plate soldered to the trigger guard, and held in place by the tang bolt and a bolt down thru the wrist. The trouble was that whole assembly was too far forward such that the trigger bar missed the sear arm by at least 1/4 inch.
First order of business was to detach the trigger assembly from the trigger guard and replace it with double set triggers.
Next, patch the trigger guard inlet and move the trigger guard to the rear.
Replace the over sized nose cap with a much thinner one in order to thin the fore end significantly .
Make and install a patchbox.
Add a little carving.
Anyway, fast forward and it’s finally getting close to completion
The silver thumb piece is covering the patch where a bolt went thru the wrist and fastened to the rear of the trigger plate.
Still needs sights, a little more sanding, metal finish.
Getting close.
