W. Gamel

Does anyone know a gunsmith named W. Gamel.  1760-80.  There is a maple-stocked, colonial-era pistol with the lock plate signed W. Gamel on Paul Ambrose Antiques; The engraving is folksy. I was interested in who made it and where.
