Curly maple and a Rice swamped 10 in .54 barrel
Shes thinking polished fire blued furniture, but does like shiney brass

To me,brass is an abomination and her idea about polished and fire blued steel is a good one.

That's awesome, learning to use and sharpen hand tools, attention to details, precise control. sculpting of wood and metal, not to mention patience and discipline!
Is there anything better than that?

Very cool indeed!  I think this post wins the internet.  Please keep us posted with her progress.

YES,we do need her and others of like mind but they are as rare as football bats.Fossilization is no fun and to see someone this young and pretty getting interested in ancient skills and weapons is indeed rare and a refreshment to many of us.The worst thing that can happen is for someone to ridicule her or her first efforts at making a pistol. If anyone starts to "put her down".show them the door and don't be diplomatic about it.

This is beautiful! Grandparents that teach, nothing could be better. But the work bench and tools wow I can’t stop looking at the pictures. So great.

I have 2 Grand Girls, both grown now, that cranked my forge blower as I forged Southern trigger guards. They made sparks. I made guards. We loved every minute of it and those memories will last us a lifetime.

What a gift you have received. God bless Fred. Savor the moment.

We worked a good 4 hours this am. Barrel is pretty much inlet, one small minor gap, but she did really well,,she drew out the breech plug tang shape and cut it out,,
