Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I just today received a second mainspring vise from TOW. As soon as my new Sear arrives, I will get busy.
In the meantime, I completed my first shot at carving a Patch box lid. Not too bad I'm still trying to figure out what to put on the tang and sides. May I will do beavers tails for a first attempt. Like most new builderes I am afraid of messing it up.

Refer to originals for further carving examples.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

We are the ones that make and sell the Tom Curran vice.  Some other dealers get them from us and sell them as well.
