I have a Southern Mt. Bear pistol for sale made by knife maker Mike Beathe that has not been fired. Mike states that the barrel is by Green Mountain, but I have not removed the barrel to check. It is a straight 10", 7/8" X .50 cal that is rifled with a pistol twist. The lock is a new old stock Davis Becky flint which sparks nicely & is equipped with a touch hole liner. The single trigger is hand made as is the trigger guard & the single forward ram rod thimble (no entry thimble or nose cap). The stock is a very well figured piece of maple that was finished with rubbed back Tru oil & stained Chambers nut brown (I believe).
All in, this is a highly functional, primitive, pistol which could have been fashioned by a back woods smith for a customer who appreciated a back up shot during serious social engagements with unfriendly fauna or neighbors.
I will have pictures posted as soon as possible. I'm just recovering from a right knee replacement & don't want to get into my heavily booby trapped garage just yet. I'll get my wife to go out & get the pistol for pictures asap. Asking price is $1,100.00 shipped in CONUS.
Many thanks,
Roger B.
Price reduced to $950.00 with free shipping for the holidays.
