My very first powder horn
« on: May 18, 2023, 12:56:50 AM »
Was going through my shop and ran across my very first powder horn. I was lucky enough to meet a guy who was a substitute teacher in my highschool. He made horns, did leather work and scrimshaw. And he was willing to teach. I was 15 at the time.  Most of the shaping was done with a pocket knife with no workbench or vice.

Fine job, Cory Joe. I know you have many great memories from that time. I sure miss our old friend, Mike. He was an outstanding man.

When you settle down, get it out and display it prominently! It shows an appreciation for the art of powder horns, great architecture.

Thanks for sharing it.

Cory Joe, I put my past life in the boxes for 13 years until I met my Georgia bride, and we moved back to our mountain home. One of the first things in my old plunder I found was my first horn, dated 1-20-78.Now proudly displayed on my wall.
Keep on Keepin on,bro,
like ol Red Green sez,We're all in this thing together!!
