5 of us shot the trail yesterday, 2 rifles, LB with his .40 Tenn. and Len with a Taylor-made .54 Beck. Hatchet Jack, Crispy and I shot our smoothbores, 2 20's and Crispy's .28 bore and all guns present were flintlocks. The smoothbores gave up no targets to the rifles this time - wierd light in the bush with all the snow. I had a particularly good day, running almost 20 targets before my second miss.
The picture is of the trail, usually a 10 to 15 foot, wide and clear path. The snow and wind pulled some brush down, making us detour to get around it in places, along with a lot of trees knocked down in the bush along the firing lines. A number of steel targets weren't visible due to intervening brush or their attachment locations were simply knocked down themselves. Fun day in which we all made some great and some not-so-great shots.
Oh yeah, lots of deer tracks along the trail but in some places, the bush itself off to either side presented fewer obstacles. This area would make for close shots on deer or moose, eh.
