Latest creation . My version of a rum horn . Any thoughts or critiques would be appreciated .
Don't worry you can't insult someone who is learning . If I don't ask I can't learn  .
Thanks in advance for your reviews or questions .

I like it!!! Your etching looks nicely designed and done. ( "Release the Spirits!!"  ;D)
What is the size?
The spouts look really nicely made. Question; why two? (Seems more opportunities for a leak.) Can it be filled/re-filled through the pouring spout?

It is 4 1/2 long and 2 3/4 round ( tapers to 2 1/2)
The 2 spouts are there for a couple reasons . 2 spouts allow it to pour better from the end spout .
I've never liked the look of one with a spout on the outside curve , that would hang in the down position when carried .
As for leaking , I tested the heck out of it with various leather gaskets . The 2 that are there work perfect .
The way it hangs will allow you to fill it from the top as it hangs .
Not sayin it's the right way , but it does work .
Thanks , Steve

Nice horn.  I noticed the snake on one side.  I am going to get pictures of an original horn in the Buffalo Museum that also has a snake among other things on the horn.  I plan to make a replica since it is an original.  Should be fun.

Hello Jeff ,
It is meant to be a serpent . It is all a play on words/images
The serpent represents the serpent in the bottle and the release of the "spirit" is also a play on words .
I've seen pictures of various 1700's items that reflect the play on words and went with that idea .
Thanks , Steve

Steve, I am going to get pictures of the "snake" horn next week.  It will be fun to see if there are any maritime elements that would indicate a sea serpent.

Got to photo the horn this week.  It has the serpent and a mermaid which might indicate a maritime influence.  Just curious, what do you use to seal your end plugs since it will be used for liquid to be consumed?  Most glues available read like a poison label.
