Nothing pleases me more than seeing young folks enjoying this work. You can't start them to soon. This is for sure. I get as much pleasure watching my children and grandchildren succeed as I got from my own work.

Looks like the ability is there.Neither of our sons wanted anything to do with muzzle loaders and still don't.The older one is a retired cop and now works for the USPS in Texas and the younger one is in charge of quality control and destructive testing on components used in our submarines now under construction.My advice is to do it as a hobby and don't let anyone tell you what your time and work is worth.
I quit for a long time and did repairs on European cars only and made transmission bearings in my shop and reconditioned transmission
pump supports for GM cars.I did make some upper end locks to keep the skills alive and most of them went to Germany and then dropped the locks altogether.Ross Dillion displayed some fine looking SMR parts and they are well worth buying as are his early style triggers.
I am not sure when or if I will make any more triggers and may be facing a health issue.There is a time to "hang it up"and it may be now.

That's just GREAT!!  Keep him interested.
I have a Grandson that loves to hunt, and is good at it.  He loves flintlock hunting, but has not expressed any interest in building one.  But he is good with his hands at building and fixing stuff.
I have all the parts saved up for a good build and am gonna ask him if he wants to give it a try.
