Nicholson #49 rasps again.
« on: December 03, 2009, 05:54:34 PM »
I haven't been on the board lately as my wife and I are on our way south to warmth on our 33' 40-year old sailboat.  We're presently in Brunswick, GA.  I received an email offer from Jamestown Distributors in RI about latest deals on wood working tools.  Once again they have #49 rasps available, this time for $29.95.  If anyone is interested the URL is www. jamestowndistribtors.com.  In the meantime, are there any collections around here that I should check out?

The last Nicholson #49 I bought was made in Brazil. Said Nicholson on it, too. Are they still made here?

This tool appeared to be very sharp and very similar to the US made one, with the exception that the teeth were spaced a little differently, and they did not go as close to the edge of the file as I like.

Acer, I ground that non-cutting edge off my rasps.  Works much better.
