Greetings All,
I started the below horn some months ago and it ended up about 11 and 1/2 inches along the outside curve and the butt end is 2 and 1/4 inches in diameter. All was going well then, while setting one of the small square nails, I saw a very small crack develop at the end of the horn and for about a 1/4 inch into exposed wood (cherry) of the butt.
After setting it aside for a few months, I worked a dab of super glue into the hairline and cleaned that up. Then I turned the button for the back end of a strap.
With all that done and not feeling comfortable offering it for sale, even though it had remained airtight all along, I found a good home for it with my local historical society for use in their hands-on history programs.
