Tomahawk Carrier
« on: July 08, 2023, 11:31:58 PM »
Finished up one of my spring projects last month. I've had this neat little axe made by Benjamin Hoffman for a number of years and occasionally took it hunting with me, just stuck in my belt or sash. It's quite small, head is 4.5" x 2", based on one dug up at a F&I War site in NY. Quite a bit of the inspiration for this rig came from the Alexander Mackenzie pipehawk carrier. I used three pieces of veg-tan cowhide, all different thicknesses (plus a welt for the blade edge), so it's smoothside out everywhere. Went with an adjustable leather strap and brass buckle rather than woven. Carries nicely, looking forward to wearing it in the woods this fall.

Well now that looks nice.  Looks functional with the right style and decoration.  And you won't get cut on your axe.  Well done.  God bless,   Marc
