What Style Rifle
« on: November 02, 2023, 02:16:47 PM »
Trying to put a name to this style.  I thought  it might be a fowler, but its barrel is .54 and rifled. Seems in the Virginia style aft, but forward I am at a loss. No maker info and lock marked with an X inside. Any help appreciated.

A maker’s own creation with traditional and non-traditional design choices. Does not line up with any originals end to end.

As an aside, the “Virginia” label is always confusing to me. I guess it refers to what kit makers offer as a “Virginia” rifle. Of course there was no predominant single style in Virginia.

I agree, in my poor knowledge of such things. But these contemporary handles serve a purpose for most modern shooters. So, fantasy gun. It'll trip someone's trigger. I hope.
