Iron Mounted Virginia Style Flintlock
« on: October 11, 2023, 03:42:39 PM »
This is a really nice VA rifle with some interesting features. The 42" barrel is not swamped, but tapers from 1.10 to 8.30, making it well balanced. Iron fittings with silver and brass inlays. The patchbox is unlike any I have handled.  With seven lands and grooves, I make bore to be .52-.53 caliber. Double ended arrow maker's mark on breech and on copper disc inside patchbox.  Anyone recognize this mark? Thanks in advance.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Yep it's one of Jerry's guns. Tell by that trigger guard and patch box...
