The Accidental Vintage Repro Hawken Collection

You have an impressive contemporary Hawken collection.  I see you do not have a Fraser River Hawken from Prince George, BC.  During the late seventies and early eighties, a gunsmith called Don Robinson had a vision to supply Canadians in particular with a quailty locally made Hawken rifle.  Only 176 were made over three years...this is one - Robinson sn 5.  this is my personal rifle.  It now resides in Finland.




These rifles show up at gun shows and at rendezvous from time to time and go for between $1200 - $2000 CDN...still underpriced for the value, imo!

Taylor, I've heard of the Fraser River Hawken but have never seen one.  Thanks for the pics.  I'll keep my eye open but won't hold my breath if only 176 were made.

This past June I purchased an unfired Ozark Mountain Arms Hawken rifle.  The man I purchased it from had a huge gun collection and he bought it new in the early 1980's and never shot it. 

The rifle is serial number 992.  It has a 1 inch straight .54 caliber Green Mountain barrel 33 inches long.  It uses a Ron Long designed Hawken lock and L&R triggers.   

It is a joy to shoot and extremely accurate!

Yea but I didn't think you could special order components on an Ozark Mountain. That beats the heck out of me how you got that trigger set on your Hawken. But a very interesting turn in this story.
