Ring a bell for anybody? Late period. It's over on the muzzloading forum in the old gun section.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Nothing about the gun makes me think Soddy Daisy. There was a James Simpson gunmaker up in White county quite a ways from where the Soddy guns were made.

All shoddy but no Soddy.

I assumed with the diamond shape it had something to do with soddy guns. Actually you could hit me over the head with a soddy and I would assume it was a Harkins rifle. I know nothing about them.

Thanks Mike for posting the question here. I have now uploaded the photos and text here too, in the hope someone may offer some further insight.
