Horn
« on: February 12, 2024, 07:40:44 AM »
This horn was on the large side. I cut it down to a more manageable size 13 ½ in. Its base was almost round, so the base plug was easy to fit. The base is black walnut, has an ebony knob hanger and ebony spout stopper.  The colors are sealed with a very thin sealer. I think it could hang on the right. This is maybe my 8th powder horn , some were just repairs to existing ones.

A very good looking horn, I especially like the "French" fleur-de-lis embellishments, as my French ancestors came to Va. in the late 1600s.

Carl
