Jewelers saw blades for steel

I'm cutting a piece of 1/8in. sheet steel with Lazer Gold 2/0 saw blade. Works fine on thin sheet steel and brass but it's just to slow going on this 1/8in. stuff and I'm cutting a design so I really need to use a jewelers saw. What size blade should I be using? Al

For fast cut, roughly 2 1/2 teeth per the thickness of the cut. But with 1/8" thickness, you aren't going to get that. So I'd probably go with a #4, but can't say I've cut steel quite that thick with a jeweler's saw! 2/0 will get there eventually I suppose, but it will take a while. If that's what you've got, that's what you use. Rocking the angle some as you cut, so that the effective thickness of the contact area is much less, will help in that case to speed the cut. Use lube.

For 1/8" steel a 10 or 12 inch blade with 24 or even 32 teeth per inch works well. The miniature saws are what I used when slotting screws and I used blades with little or no "set" to the teeth and then finished the slot with a knife shaped needle file.Metal cutting bandsaws are a useful thing to have for thicker steels, both vertical and horizontal.

It would be quicker to cut close with a hacksaw, then file to shape.

For curves, multiple stab cuts, then cut out the pieces, then file.
3/16" is just too thick for a jeweler's saw, imho.

It would be nice if the jeweler saw blades would work.

I would drill a bunch of say 1/8" holes around the object then connect the holes with your jewelers saw.
