Some new works from the forge!
« on: January 06, 2024, 06:50:03 PM »
I have completed my first two knives of 2024 and a fork that I finally got around to bluing.
The smaller knife has a slight upsweep and it sports black walnut and pewter on the handle. Overall length 8”  blade length 4”. The larger knife has a very gradual drop point and sports chinaberry and pewter on the handle. Overall length 9”  blade length 5”. Both have double tapered full tangs. And lastly this kind of fancy fork. I completed this as a school project it is a two piece construction. The handle is forged from tubing, so it is hollow while the shank and tines are wrought iron. The handle is secured by a braze joint and through tang. Then I inlet and engraved a brass plaque with simple designs and an H.

Thank y’all, classes are about to start up again and that’s one of the main reasons I haven’t been posting much in the last year.

Nice work Robert, I especially like the Chinaberry one. I have one of yours similar to it and it's my favorite knife.

Elegant little knives.
Love the chinaberry handle, but I’d like it on the smaller knife.
Oh $#*!, I’d take them both.
Nicely done!

Very nicely done Robert. I really like the shape of your blades and your fork is quite fancy! My forge has been sitting cold and lonely for too long. Hope to fire it up soon.

Thank y’all, we just started classes up again at Coastal Carolina, so work will be slowed, but I will post anytime I finish something up.

Beautiful work (as usual) Mr. Hill.  A first glance immediately identifies these as "Hill School" or "Plantersville School".  Y'all are turning out some beautiful pieces.  I especially like the walnut handled one.  Bet you knew that before I said it anyway.    God Bless,   Marc
