Hawken rifles in the virtual library

If I were looking for pictures, and information on Hawken rifles where in the ALR library would I look. I have acquired a beautiful curly maple stock, and am starting to do some research for my build.

If this needs moved please feel free to do so.

"Huricane" and "Nord" handle the ALR Library and to the best of my knowledge they do not accept Hawken rifles. Nothing against that style rifle but they limit their involvement to original KY/PA type rifles (that style even if made in other states). I think they have all the volunteer work that they can handle with just those. I think there are photos of well over 100 different rifles in the library with more coming in.

Look on the Cody Musem web site.  They have photographs of several Hawken rifles that you can access.  I can't remember the web site now, but you should be able to find it.

When you get on the Cody Museum site, look under manufacturer to see the rifles.  Be sure to look at the different ways the Hawken is listed.  S. Hawken is photographs of John (Liver eating Johnson) Johnson's rifle.  It wasn't on display when I was out there and took photographs, but special due to the history of the owner.  J&S Hawken has one example.  However, if you look under Samuel Hawken, there are a hand full of examples.  Good reference material for those of us who have a soft spot for Hawken rifles.

Well according to the Library itself that's not correct - they have a section on - Great Plains Exhibits http://americanlongrifles.org/forum/index.php?board=114.0
At this point they don't have any Hawkens listed so the BBHC link is the best bet for Hawkens online
