Tom,
Nice rifle. I like the way you did the patch box catch.

the balance is right between the lock and the rear pipe. Swings up like a shotgun, right on target. Almost like a live thing. Feels so right. I am very happy how it turned out.

Tom,

Great looking rifle!  I really like your "Dutchy" carving, nice design and very well done.  If I may ask, what are the two screws for in the batch box cavity?  Or did I miss something, which is entirely possible, lol....  Thanks for the pics!

Ed, the two screws are for a 'patch'...... this gun once had a sliding wooden cover. for some reason, either because the cover was lost, or the owner wanted to fancy up his gun, he had a metal box installed. The 'patch' fills the old dovetail and holds the new box catch spring down.

This is fiction, any resemblance an actual gun is accidental.

Tom,
I get it, makes perfect sense.  I should have picked up on that from your description, but like I said, I miss things sometimes, lol...  Again, neat rifle!

Tom I love it too! Can't believe the brrl is only 31" lg. Must be an illusion, since the entry pipe is so far back! Cool carving alright!

There is so much that is great about the rifle I hate to bring this up.  But I do not like the rusty frizzen and trigger.  Having been to Chatham in july, I can understand how iron/steel gets that way, but please Tom, get some oil on that.
